The scent is pressed in

Most scent bracelets are a stone waiting for you to add oil. This one was made with the scent already inside it — ground botanicals, blended to a formula, pressed into bead shapes while the mixture is still soft, then carved and sanded by hand.

Wear it against skin. Your warmth does the rest.

How it's made — six steps, about ten days

• 01 · Selecting. Aromatic woods, petals and roots, weighed out by hand on a brass balance.
• 02 · Cutting. Cut down by hand, small enough to grind evenly.
• 03 · Pounding. Ground in a stone mortar, in small batches. A machine would be faster — and would heat the powder, which costs you the top notes.
• 04 · Blending. The powder is blended to a formula, then kneaded with a binder until it holds a shape.
• 05 · Pressing & shaping. Pressed into beads in carved molds, then sanded, trimmed and shaped by hand, one at a time.
• 06 · Drying. Left to dry in the shade. This is the step that can't be rushed, and the reason the whole thing takes about ten days.

More than ten steps in all, most of them waiting.

What you'll notice

• The scent sits close. You'll catch it when you move your hand near your face; the person next to you probably won't. That's deliberate — it's made to be worn, not announced.
• It arrives a little sharp. Leave it in the air for a day or three and it settles into something rounder.
• Matte, faintly textured, cool to the touch. It warms up within a minute of wearing.
• Lotus and gourd alternate around the wrist. The gourd for keeping what's good; the lotus for letting the rest go.
• Pale violet crystal sits between the carvings, so the purple has somewhere to breathe.
• Thirty-two beads, eleven millimetres. Light enough to forget, heavy enough to feel.

A note on handmade

Every bead is pressed and sanded by hand and dried naturally. Slight differences in carving depth, colour and bead diameter are normal, and small marks from the process are part of it. No two bracelets are identical, and we don't try to make them so.

Care, in short

Keep it dry — blot, never rub. Air it out a day or three before the first wear. Wear it against skin by day, polish it with a soft cloth at night. Keep it away from metal. If the scent goes quiet, seal it in a jar for three to seven days and it gathers again. Full instructions come in the box.
